Hiking Ano Doliana - Ravine Agianni - BBQ in the nature - Wine tasting

The picturesque settlement of AnoDoliana, perched at an altitude of 1005 meters, is located 20 kilometers from Tripoli, 80 kilometers from Kalamata and 200 kilometers from Athens. It presents rich natural and residential beauty, with verdant streams and stone-built houses which have fully integrated themselves into the environment.

Its’ population, which had flourished over the past decades, has decreased in recent years, with 10 inhabitants in the winter and about 200 in the summer.

We invite you to take part in a unique activity, as we walk from Ano Doliana along the Agianni water stream in order to reach the vineyards of the Tselepos Estate.

The hiking route towards Agianni begins from the guesthouse, the former old school of Ano Doliana, and follows the path along the stream.

Here while walking we’ll hear the sound of the dry leaves under our footsteps, and if done ever so quietly, we’ll also hear the sound they make as they’re separated from their branches.

Furthermore, we’ll enter the dry river bed, meet the ruins of abandoned watermills and talk about the flora and fauna, but also about the history, myths and traditions of the region.

After about 5 km of easy hiking, we’ll arrive at the chapel of Panagia Kouvliotissa which proudly stands under the tall plane and walnut trees, later, after 2 km of dirt road, we’ll reach the vineyards of the Estate Tselepos at Cubli.

The "Cubli" area is situated at the southeastern end of Tripoli where the region plateaus. It is at this point that the mountainous mass of the Parnon region begins to peak, and where we come across the first village, Ano Doliana.

In the past, vineyards were cultivated here, and for this reason almost all this land is covered with many stone-built, vineyard tanks/sterns, where the grapes were once pressed.

For a period of time, the cultivation of the vine was abandoned in order to devote all land almost exclusively to the cultivation of fruit trees.

Nevertheless, today vineyard cultivation has dominated once again, with the center of activity being the winery of the Tselepos Estate. Built in a large privately owned vineyard of 300 acres, the estate has fully adapted to the environment and the ecosystem of the area.

After wandering for a while amongst the vineyards, we’ll end up at the uniquely designed picnic area which is situated in the courtyard of a fully restored and imposing watermill, named Kokkinomylos, which is synonymous to one of the finest wines of the Estate.

Here, we’ll have the pleasure of tasting three of the fine wines of the "Tselepos Estate"

Wine tasting and all other activities will come to an end with an outdoor BBQ under the supervision of team, 5πεντε.
